Gears of War 2 All Fronts Collection and Dark Corners Map Pack
Word is out that Gears of War 2 will be receiving yet another set of down-loadable content. This time it comes in the form of the “Dark Corners” map pack which includes 7 new maps and an extra campaign mission. So far Epic has already released 3 map packs for Gears of War 2 and this new one bumps up the value with 7 new maps. A little bit of map overload.
Epic has also announced the “Gears of War 2 All Fronts Collection” which will be available in retail stores. This will include all of the past DLC and the new “Dark Corners” map pack bundled with a bunch of extras like a poster, xbox theme and strategy guide.
The “Gears of War 2 All Fronts Collection” will be available in retail stores on July 28th. On the same day the “Dark Fronts” map pack will become available on Xbox Live for an estimated $20 or 1600 MS points.
I love that Epic is keeping the game alive with new map packs and patches, I’ve been eating it up blindly. However, the problem with all these new map packs is that they have not been well integrated into the multiplayer experience. As it stands the new maps don’t regularly appear in the map voting unless you specifically play one of the new map game types. Now I’m not sure if it’s because everyone else don’t own the new maps but it still feels like a poor use of new maps. Especially since the new maps weren’t free and this new map pack has raised the bar of map pack pricing.
