Gears of War 2: Snowblind Map Pack and Ranking System Update
Just announced earlier today, Gears of War 2 will be receiving yet another downloadable map pack. The “Snowblind” map pack will include 3 new maps and a remake of Fuel Depot from the original Gears of War. This will already be the third map pack released for Gears of War 2. No price has been announced but it can be assumed it will cost the usual 800 points ($9.99). The release of the “Snowblind” map pack is scheduled for March 31st 2009.
The second part of this mornings announcement is the Ranking System Update. Previously the “TrueSkill” ranking system was unclear on how it ranked each player. Progressing in the “TrueSkill” ranking system was frustrating for many users because of the lack of feedback. A players rank wouldn’t change very often and sometimes without clear reasoning.
Epic promises that the new ranking system will be clearer and provide feedback after every match. Players will earn a number of experience points based on their performance at the end of a match further progressing them up the ranking tree. Epic hopes the previously frustrated users will see this as a sign of good faith on their part. The update is scheduled to be released on March 31st 2009.
