Viva Pinata: Day 1

So the game just came in through Gamefly yesterday and I now understand why I had to wait 5 days for it to even ship (I guess they really meant “Long Wait”). That game is darn near impossible to put down. The game is undeniably addictive. Basically, you start out with a garden and you start fixing it up by conditioning the soil and planting grass and plants. Then all of a sudden these worms appear. Then birds appear to feed on the worms. Then your food chain just starts growing as you get more plants and animals. The sandbox system is great. A lot of the events seem unscripted except for when you reach a certain “gardener experience level” then a new tutorial menu appears and introduces a new option/action you can do.

It’s a really well made game and I’m happy Rareware could put out another instant hit. It has been a while since they’ve put out a game with this kind of appeal. And for xbox 360 its a huge step out of the sports/racing/shooter genres that multiply by the dozen. Not to mention the release of the parallel cartoon series to boost sales. I haven’t gotten online to see whats out there yet but this game really is more than meets the eye. Yes, I do mean just as good as Transformers but frizzy and candy filled.
