NBA 2K9 Demo: Review

What can I say, you think NBA 2K can’t get any better yet 2K Sports finds a way to raise the bar yet again. Of course a lot of aspects were still left out of the demo that just dropped this past week but by just playing a single 4 minute quarter I already know the game is amazing. The graphics have been cleaned up, putting a lot more focus on player’s faces. The animations that have been great in the past 2 years get even better and more life-like. The shots from under the rim especially. The signature styles for each athlete also look superb.

One thing you will notice in the game-play is the new lock on defense system. If you lock on to a player far away you will stay at that distance. You will notice a radar type icon with the distance of how close you are playing the ball carrier. If you lock on up close your player will try to play the ball carrier tight and will sometimes get burned by quick players. You will probably also notice it isn’t as easy to juke the AI when they are locked on to you.

The demo shows off some nice presentation as well with video clips before the game. The demo lacks any commentary as well as any coaching options. The only thing I would have liked to see in this demo is a longer duration of of course!

Looking forward to my first 5 on 5 game online! Also I love how this trailer closes it out with my favorite player Baron Davis!

NBA 2K9 drops on Oct. 7th!
