Half Life Orange Box recieves Halo 3 type scores
It took 5 games packed into Half Life Orange Box to match Halo 3’s IGN score of 9.5. To me Halo 3 still seems like Halo 2.5, yes I did just say that. Valve really put together a nice package here and we all were thinking it’d be difficult to follow just 2 weeks behind the Halo 3 release. The IGN editors gave a deserving score to the guys at Valve. Even though most of their innovation is expressed through their add-on titles: Team Fortress 2 and Portal the reviews rave about Half Lide 2, claiming its still getting better.
Remarkable indeed. Half Life 2 came out years ago and the fact that they’re still making money off of it shows shades of Blizzard. Another think I commend Valve for doing is making sequential development a viable option by showing that it can actually work. What helps them is the fact that their online purchases can be made for just one of the games or all five as a package. It’s easy to see that most publishers will be releasing games online in the near future.
